(ANSA) – Rome, October 25 – Today’s “throwaway culture” produces “bitter fruit,” Pope Francis tweeted Friday.

“Throwaway culture produces a lot of bitter fruit, from food wastage to the isolation of so many elderly,” Francis said on his Twitter account, @Pontifex.

The pope has almost 10 million followers, the Vatican said Friday.
