Milan bourse gains on 2014 budget
(ANSA) – Milan, October 16 – The Milan bourse rose 1.45% Wednesday on hopes the 2014 budget bill will help boost the economy while most other European bourses posted smaller gains amid expectations the US will soon reach a deal on its debt ceiling.
The spread between Italian and German 10-year bonds, a key gauge of market sentiment, closed at 231, up from 233 Tuesday, after falling as low as 229, its lowest since Italy was nearing a euro-threatening crisis in July 2011.
The London stock market rose 0.34%, Frankfurt 0.47% and Madrid 0.75%.
Paris bucked the trend amid gloomy economic forecasts, with a 0.29% loss.
