Italy gets back 1% more in dodged taxes compared with 2012 (ANSA) – Milan, November 5 – Tax authorities said Tuesday they have made gains in the fight against tax evasion, collecting 1% more in unpaid taxes during the first nine months of this year compared with the same period in 2012. However, total tax revenues from January to September were down by 0.3% or 895 million euros over the same period last year, the economy ministry reported.

Total tax revenues came in at more than 291.5 billion euros in the first nine months, it said.

Collection of back taxes reached 5.252 million euros between January and September.

Direct taxes rose by 2.1%, or almost 3.2 billion euros in 2013 compared with one year earlier while revenues from personal income taxes fell by 0.7%, or 827 million euros, reflecting the weak economy and rising joblessness.

Corporate income tax rose by 5%, or 952 million euros, the agency said.

The government take from gambling and gaming rose by 0.7% or 71 million euros.
